This photo shows what I took home the first time I visited the market in the Shed. For $ 40 I bought a kilo of oranges, half a kilo of plums, a cabbage, radicchio, a kilo of cucumbers, tomatoes and eggplants. I also bought organic sea salt ($ 10), honey 500g ($ 17), 1 liter of organic yogurt (now $ 20) and a couple of luxury bordershop items - goat cheese and cheese flavored cooked soybeans. The spinach and ricotta pie I bought at the restaurant was worth $ 8.
Prices are very reasonable when compared with what you would pay in any supermarket, grocery store or butcher. Prices of bread and cakes are similar bordershop to prices in other local organic breads natural food and bakeries I've visited and imported breads sold in supermarkets. How did the Shed?
The idea behind the organic market was to create a space where local farmers and townsmen could sell their toxic chemical free organic products. The Shed has its own garden next to the market, and also offers courses and urban organic garden every Wednesday and Saturday from 10 to 15hs. You can not get much more organic than that because organic foods are better when transport time is reduced (ie, exposure to chemicals in the air etc.) How come?
To reach the market in the Shed, you can take the subway line B to Federico Lacroze station, or bus to the corner of Avenida Corrientes and Avenida Federico Lacroze, and walk a few meters. The market is located next to the train station on Avenida Federico Lacroze 4171. You'll see a yellow building in the background of a cobbled street that runs next to the station. Opening
