On it goes from Kampong Cham to Kampong Thom. On behalf of the difference is rather small, but in a direct comparison, the cities are very different. Kampong Thom has formed around the main street and is free from any sights. I still wanted to go there. There are approximately 40km temples, which arose before the Angkorian. Once these temples were built, attracted by the rulers of Angkor and built there their seat. My accommodation was wonderful broche central but it was too loud, I was on Saturday at six clock in the morning awake. I had a feeling for the road through my room. There had to be another guest house. My new home was in a side street and just a few meters from a great restaurant, run amok away. Just because the name is worth a visit.
The old temple complex of Sambor Prei Kuk is mentioned by the town about 40km away. With bike I was too far away. So a motorized pedestal or a driver. A driver was too expensive so I drove himself.
My expectations were arriving in Sambor Prei Kuk exceeded. The forest, the ruins, it all came together. I could move freely me here. There were no limitations, I was able to enter the temple. The locals use the temple even today to pray. This was hard as I made my way to the first three temples.
At the first system arrived I was surprised people everywhere and a television crew. Here is a meeting of archaeologists was underway. Sambor Prei Kuk was their destination. This parts of me with one of the participants. Only I could get over the temples and had to make do with the meager information boards no further information here.
The entire plants reminded broche me of the palace of King Louie from Jungle Book. I also met Kaa, the snake. , Right on the way. Only I did not know if this specimen was toxic. With a few blows with a stick on the ground I was able to scare the snake and continue my journey. Kaa I just hoped that I now do not even meet the other characters. Although it is very unlikely. The only thing I met was a different tour group. It's just not Angkor here and few visit this place.
On my way back to the city the gasoline to me is out, the fuel gauge was not working class. Slide I had not luckily. I'm left lying in front of a bottle filling station. So I just got a liter of petrol bought and I've gone to the next gas station right. I then got a full tank. So I could be on my way to Phnom Santuk on Sunday without hesitation. Phnom Santuk is a sacred mountain with many carved into the stone Buddha statues. On my way I drove through a village where many were stonemasons. Along the road you edited the stones with a hammer and chisel. I could really see the steps. One struck a large stone block to right while others broche were working on the finer points on. Of course, it was also all for sale. If I were not so limited in the place I had to be beaten here.
Next stop was Phnom Santuk. I went as usual more free snout, here in Cambodia to keep the signs very limited. So I drove down a small dirt road. At the end of the road, I came on an asphalt road, was the way up to the mountain. Only boot I would not. I wanted the 810 steps to go up the hill. After some time I found this also.
The way up top of the stairs there was initially a pagoda. What struck broche me immediately how close everything was together here. For good reason, here in the stones are everywhere the Buddha. No huts have been built to protect the Buddha.
In some of the huts nuns and monks were praying at. As the nuns and monks saw me you were mostly on smile and showed me the respective shrine. Not only the Buddhas were also impressive was the view especially beautiful.
